File Setup Guide

For Printing Photographs on Photo Paper

In order to print your files on Photo Paper you need to set them up correctly. If you don't know how to set them up or require assistance, please contact us.

Print Sizes

Set your image to the final size of the print you require.

Standard Print Sizes are:

  • 3x5 inch (9x13cm)
  • 4x6 inch (10x15cm)
  • 4.5x6 inch (11x15cm)
  • 5x7 inch (13x18cm)
  • 5x7.5 inch (13x19cm)
  • 6x8 inch (15x20cm)
  • 6x9 inch (15x23cm)
  • 8x10 inch (20x25cm)
  • 8x12 inch (20x30cm)
  • 10x12 inch (25x30cm)
  • 10x15 inch (25x38cm)
  • 11x14 inch (28x35cm)
  • 12x15 inch (30x38cm)
  • 12x18 inch (30x45cm)

All images are printed to fit with the print size selected. If the size is not the same proportions it will be printed within the paper size and white borders will be on 2 sides.

If you want the file to be printed to the paper size please note in your instructions "print full print". This will possibly crop 2 sides of your image to fit the paper.

International sizes for photographic prints are based in inches, therefore the the sizes indicated in centimetres are approximate.

Resolution

Set the file resolution to 300 ppi/dpi (Pixels per inch). Just check you're not set to pixels per centimetre.

Colour Mode

Colour mode should be RGB. All images including greyscale (desaturated).

Management and save using sRGB or Adbobe1998 profiles embedded.

Saving

Save a copy and don't include alpha channels. Check the box 'don't include alpha channels' when saving.

Save as jpeg, or TIFF without LZW Compression.

Write images to CD or DVD, PC and Mac compatible, and post or courier to us.
